What “Made in Europe” Really Means for Cleantech and Industry
As Europe rapidly scales wind and solar and accelerates industrial electrification, flexibility is becoming the limiting factor of the energy transition. LDES is a cornerstone of a secure, resilient, and cost-efficient power system, enabling grids to balance supply and demand across daily, weekly, and seasonal timescales, while reducing curtailment and reliance on fossil peaker plants.
That is why Future Cleantech Architects is proud to join Energy Storage Europe Association, Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council), Cleantech for Europe, EnergyTag, Eurelectric Flow Batteries Europe WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) in signing a joint statement calling for a coordinated EU framework to unlock LDES deployment at scale.
The message is clear: deployment will not happen without the right market and regulatory signals.
The joint statement calls for EU action on:
➡️ Integrating LDES into system planning and adequacy assessments
➡️ Ensuring fair market access and grid charges that reflect system value
➡️ Creating stable investment conditions for long-duration flexibility
