It was an honor for our team members Leonie Brand, Martin Schifferings, and Peter Schniering to host an event on the key takeaways and policy recommendations of the festival upon invitation of UN Climate Change’s Technology Executive Committee. The session had a special focus on storage and sustainable construction, alongside the 60th Subsidiary Body Sessions (SB Sessions) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
A few of our key outcomes to promote energy storage for grid flexibility are:
✅ Adopt a system-wide approach integrating flexibility tools such as long duration energy storage (including thermal storage for heat applications), digitalization, clean firm power, and enhanced grid infrastructure.
✅Create a market demand for flexibility tools to incentivize the development and deployment of energy storage.
✅Invest in energy storage R&D to achieve high technology readiness level (TRL) and increase market penetration.
We took the opportunity to present a sneak peek of the upcoming Future Cleantech Priorities report, which focuses on key takeaways and actionable policy recommendations for Innovation, Construction, Transport, and the Future Energy System. Stay tuned for the release!
