We are thrilled to share with you WDR’s TV news segment, Lokalzeit, featuring an interview with our Founder & CEO, Peter Schniering, about COP28. Read a snippet of the discussion below!
Question: You’ve had two events today [at COP28]; do you feel that you can actively contribute to stopping climate change?
Peter: That’s a big question and always difficult to answer. We focus on the most challenging sectors, on technologies that are in very early stages of maturity but account for a significant portion of emissions. The response today was very positive. We discussed breakthrough technology in power generation and global research priorities in various fields. People wanted copies of the slides afterward, which is always a good sign. However, many of these effects will only be seen after a long time.
Question: But briefly, Mr. Schniering, do you believe all this makes a difference?
Peter: The question always is, what is the alternative? If people don’t come together, even less will happen! Meeting in person, and by that I mean especially politicians, creates pressure because you need to prepare, because you have to exchange ideas. Without the process, we would be much further behind. But we often wish it could be much faster and more ambitious.
